Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress, best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington in Ohio. She was kicked out of high school after her parents separated to go to Los Angeles to live with her mother. She was nominated as the Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mother in Crazy Heart. In the following years she appeared in comedy and dramatic films: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles she has played included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 an action thriller) as well as musicians in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to The Kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal composed and directed her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
