Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. They was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five where she attended an academy called the Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. At the age of 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons in acting, singing as well as dancing. When she was ten, she had appeared and played part in many Stagecoach shows and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was cast in the year 1999. Emma was identified by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight straight auditions. Emma's first film on the screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. The film is 2001's top grossing film, breaking records at the opening and the very first weekend. Critics gave high praise to the film, and especially those who were young. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British paper, called Emma's performances "amazing". Emma got five nominations in recognition of her outstanding performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in a Film.
